报告题目 Passsage from atom to solids

Abstract: In this talk, we will consider Cauchy-Born rule: the passage from atomistic model to continuum model. In particular, we will discriminate the physical relevance of the global minimizer and the local minimizer. Some existence theorems are proven for the local minimizers of the atomistic model as well as the continuum model obtained from Cauchy-Born rule. As an application of these results, we will check the stability and accuracy of Quasicontinuum mothod, a very popular multiscale method recently proposed by Tadmor, Ortiz and Phillips.
